Determination of transmittance of pharmaceutical packaging

The light transmittance of a pharmaceutical packaging refers to the ratio of the luminous flux transmitted through the sample to the luminous flux incident on the sample, expressed as a percentage. For light-sensitive pharmaceutical preparations, pharmaceutical packaging materials need to provide good light-shielding properties for the preparations; for high-risk pharmaceutical preparations such as injections, the pharmaceutical packaging materials must achieve a certain light transmission performance so that the status of the content drugs can be observed with the naked eye. This method is suitable for measuring the light transmittance of glass containers and plastic containers and materials.

1. The size of the test product is recommended to cover the entrance window of the integrating sphere. If the test item is too small to completely cover the entrance window, use opaque paper or tape to cover the uncovered part of the entrance window.

3. The test product should be placed properly so that the light beam is perpendicular to the surface of the test product with minimal loss of reflection.

4. The surface of the test product should be smooth and clean to prevent scratches and fingerprints.
